Day 17 - A book you've read that changed your views on something.
A really, really good read that I couldn't put down was called "The Shack" written by Wm. Paul Young.
I was raised in a Catholic family. I was baptized as an infant. Then there was Holy Communion when I was 7 or 8 and I also Confirmation when I was a little older. Catholic church was a comfortable ritual until I hit my teen years and I was going through so much turmoil in my life. I walked away from the Catholic Church.
When I was 19 and pregnant with my son I was attending a non-denominational Christian Church. I loved it there. The messages were crystal clear and the environment was warm and welcoming. I found myself asking questions about my faith and getting so many answers.
I haven't attended that church or any other church for a long time. I sure do miss it. (But I have my one on one time with God any time I want to and there is great power in prayer!!)
Several months ago my mother-in-law hands me this book. It was "The Shack". She said you *have* to read it and won't be able to put it down.
I won't go into great detail about the book. But I will say it opened my eyes about how I look at the Holy Trinity.
Here is a link to the author's website: http://www.theshackbook.com/
Here is a blog on his site. The entry it will open up to is from November 2010. It was written by a non-believer. He posted 57 new ideas he came away with from this book. The blog is here: http://windrumors.com/
I could see embracing some of those ideas as well.
Check out the book.....it is a very good read. Whether a believer in God or a non-believer.
